Hang Up and Drive

Tuesday, December 26, 2006; Page A24

On Dec. 20, riding my bicycle at 18th and T streets NW, I came upon a team of D.C. police officers waving over cars. I overheard one telling a driver: "Sir, in the District it's against the law to operate a cellphone while driving unless you have a hands-free system. Could I see your license and registration please?"

It's about time. Keep it up, officers.
