Two people are dead after a serious three-car accident this morning on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

It happened about 5:50 a.m. near Route 197 in the Laurel area.

U.S. Park Police Lt. Scott Fear said a southbound Chevrolet crossed into the northbound lanes and hit a white Infiniti. The female driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene, as did the male driver of the Infiniti.

A blue pickup truck was also hit, but both people in the truck were said to be okay.

The accident tangled traffic for much of the morning rush hour.

U.S. Park Police are asking for help finding witnesses as they investigate the accident.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-610-8737.
