BOUNDARIES: The historic district is bounded by the Patapsco River to the east, Ellicott Mills Drive to the west, the 3700 block of Old Columbia Pike to the south, and the streets and alleyways north of Main Street, including Court House Drive, Park Drive, Church Road and Sylvan Lane.

SCHOOLS: North of Main Street: St. John's Lane Elementary, Dunloggin Middle and Mount Hebron High schools. South of Main: Worthington Elementary, Ellicott Mills Middle and Centennial High schools.

HOME SALES: Five homes sold within the historic district in 2006, at prices from $360,000 to $605,000, according to Kimberly Kepnes of Coldwell Banker. Properties on the market now include Lilburn Castle, a circa 1857 Gothic Revival on 6.95 acres for $1.59 million (an additional .85 acres and a caretaker's cottage is available with the main house for a total asking price of $1.99 million); a Victorian on .22 acres for $895,000; and a 1.12-acre lot for $425,000.

WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE: Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum; B&O Railroad Museum's Ellicott City Station; the restored Ellicott City Colored School, ; Main Street shops and restaurants; Patapsco Female Institute and Mount Ida Visitor Center; Thomas Isaac Log Cabin.
