A wide receiver-to-wide receiver connection gave the Redskins their first score of the game and an early lead. Midway through the first quarter, Antwaan Randle El took the ball on a handoff running toward the right and heaved a wobbly pass 48 yards to Santana Moss. Two Giants defenders played the ball poorly, and Moss sneaked between them to catch it and walk into the end zone. The Giants' offense looked particularly inept. But a Ladell Betts fumble followed by a 67-yard return by defensive tackle Fred Robbins set up a 34-yard field goal by Jay Feely to put the Giants on the board.
