A number of records were on the line in the Redskins' season- ending game last night -- and few of them were positive:

DROP-OFF FROM PREVIOUS SEASON

The Redskins' 5-11 record gives them a five-win drop-off from the previous season (10-6 in '05) for the first time 1992-93, when Joe Gibbs retired.

Washington is tied for the second worst drop-off in the NFL. Entering today, Tampa Bay has seven fewer wins and Seattle has five fewer wins than each had in 2005.

TOTAL YARDS ALLOWED

The Redskins finished the season allowing 5,695 total yards. The team record for most yards allowed is 5,723 (1996).

RECORD AGAINST THE NFC

The loss left the Redskins 3-9 against the NFC and 1-5 against the NFC East.

FEWEST TAKE-AWAYS

The defense had 12 forced turnovers this season, a record low. The NFL mark for fewest take-aways in a 16-game season was 15, set by Green Bay and St. Louis in 2004.

FEWEST WINS FOR JOE GIBBS

Gibbs had never won fewer than six games in a season.

FEWEST SACKS AND INTERCEPTIONS

The Redskins had 19 sacks; the previous franchise low was 25 (2001). The Redskins had six interceptions; the franchise low was 11 (1982).

MOST KICKOFF RETURN YARDS

Rock Cartwright set a franchise record for most kickoff return yardage in a season with 1,818.
