She was active in gardening and flower-arranging groups and the Ki-Wives. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alexandria and participated in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

Her husband, John A. Messina, whom she married in 1948, died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, John A. Messina Jr. of Alexandria.

Roger D. RusseReal Estate Developer

Roger Dunster Russe, 53, who developed real estate in the Washington area as well as in Texas over the years, died Dec. 30 at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. He had a brain aneurysm.

Mr. Russe was born in Bethesda and raised in Fairfax City. He was a graduate of the private Woodberry Forest School near Charlottesville as well as a 1975 graduate of Harvard University and a 1978 graduate of Tulane University Law School.

Early on, he was a legislative aide for Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) before moving into real estate. Among those he worked for was Realtor William "Kip" Laughlin. About 2000, he moved to Texas and developed real estate in Brenham, his city of residence.

His marriage to Robin Tuttle Russe ended in divorce.

Survivors include his mother, Constance Russe of McLean; two brothers, Conrad Thomas "Tom" Russe of Chattanooga and Laurence P. Russe of Fairfax City and Dallas; a half-brother, Frederick W. Russe III of Portland, Maine; a half-sister, Suzanne Daniel-Dreyfus of Melbourne, Australia; and a stepsister, "Missy" Allen Prisiel of Cambridge, Mass.

Laurie H. McQuillanInformation Technology Consultant

Laurie H. McQuillan, 52, a co-founder and the chief operating officer of the Cashwell Group, an information security consulting company based in Montclair, died Jan. 5 at her home in Manassas. She had complications from cancer.

Ms. McQuillan spent 30 years as a computer and information technology consultant to government agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration. In 2004, she helped start the Cashwell Group.
