Jenna's Publishing Venture
Jenna Bush, author?
The younger-by-minutes first twin, whose last sightings were at a soccer match in Buenos Aires and a bar in Glover Park, made the rounds of some New York publishing houses with a book proposal a few weeks ago.
Sources tell The Post that Jenna's road to authorship is in a "very, very preliminary" stage at the moment, but that publishers have shown "unbelievable" interest. However, that interest has not yet yielded an option or a deal. We've also been told that the book will be geared toward young adults and may be "inspired by the educational and charitable work" the 25-year-old has done in Central and South America.
Bush, who majored in English at University of Texas, is repped by lawyer Robert Barnett, whose specialty is securing deals for such Washington VIPs as Bill and Hillary Clinton and Mary Cheney. The book, first noted by U.S. News & World Report, could be out late this year or in early '08 if things move along as planned.
The White House had no comment yesterday.
Jessica Lynch Gives Birth
Jessica Lynch, whose capture and dramatic nighttime rescue in Iraq made her an instant celebrity in 2003, became a mother yesterday. Dakota Ann Robinson, delivered by Caesarean section at a Parkersburg, W.Va., hospital, weighed in at 7 pounds 10 ounces, said Lynch's publicist, Aly Goodwin Gregg.
Lynch and her boyfriend, Wes Robinson, named Dakota in honor of Lynch's friend, Army Spc. Lori Piestewa, whose middle name was Dakota. Piestewa died and Lynch was captured when their unit was ambushed near Nasiriyah. Lynch suffered two spinal fractures, nerve damage and a shattered right arm, right foot and left leg when her Humvee crashed during the firefight.
Now 23, Lynch is a sophomore at West Virginia University-Parkersburg.
The Apple of Pelosi's Eye
Grandma to the rescue!
Nancy Pelosi flipped her maternal instincts into high gear at Thursday night's screening of her daughter's HBO documentary "Friends of God: A Road Trip With Alexandra Pelosi." Filmmaker Aviva Kempner says the speaker of the House made a beeline for new grandbaby Paul Michael Vos at the premiere's Ritz-Carlton reception and immediately started fussing over him.
"This baby's too hot," she heard Pelosi declare before unwrapping the blankets around the infant and handing them to people standing nearby. The congresswoman spent most of the reception with the child in her arms while his mom promoted her movie.
