Here are some of the other area ski resorts with good tubing parks.

Most are generally open as long as freezing temperatures allow snowmaking. All listed below are lighted at night, and prices refer to two-hour sessions unless otherwise indicated. Check child height requirements before you go, and buy tickets on arrival because sessions can sell out.

Blue Knob All Seasons Resort (1418 Overland Pass, Claysburg, Pa., 160 miles from Washington, 800-458-3403, http://www.blueknob.com/). Tubing park has three lanes, each 1,000 feet long. $14, or $35 all day on weekends; $12 weekdays . Other activities: downhill and cross-country skiing, indoor pool. Lodging in condos: from $180 weekends, $120 weekdays.

Liberty Mountain Resort (78 Country Club Trail, Carroll Valley, Pa., 75 miles from Washington, 717-642-8282, http://www.libertymountainresort.com/). Fifteen lanes, 800 feet, and a kiddie tubing area. $18 weekends, $16 weekdays; unlimited kiddie tubing is $8. Other activities: downhill skiing and snowboarding, including three terrain parks, a climbing wall, a zip line. Double rooms begin at $129 weekends, $104 weekdays.

Whitetail Resort (13805 Blairs Valley Rd., Mercersburg, Pa., 90 miles from Washington, 717-328-9400, http://www.skiwhitetail.com/). Ten lanes, 1,000 feet. $18 weekends, $16 weekdays. Other activities: downhill skiing and snowboarding. No rooms on site; Web site directs you to nearby lodging.

Wisp Resort (296 Marsh Hill Rd., McHenry, Md., on Deep Creek Lake, 180 miles from Washington, 800-462-9477, http://www.skiwisp.com/). Nine lanes, 750 feet long. $20 weekends, $15 weekdays. Other activities: downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, indoor pool, racquetball court and spa. Double rooms begin at $199 weekends; $139 weekdays.

Massanutten Resort (1822 Resort Dr., Massanutten, Va., 130 miles from Washington, 540-289-9441, http://www.massresort.com/). Twelve tubing lanes, 900 feet long. $22 weekends, $18 weekdays. Other activities: skiing and snowboarding, indoor water park, fitness rooms and spa. Double rooms begin at $90; availability is limited on weekends. Condos also available.
