Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) has cancelled her first planned trip to New Hampshire because of a serious illness in the family, her campaign advisers said today.

Former president Bill Clinton's stepfather, Dick Kelley, is in grave condition in Little Rock, they said.

Clinton -- who has not set foot in New Hampshire in more than a decade -- is expected to reschedule the trip shortly.

After launching her campaign in Iowa last weekend, she had planned to swing through the early primary state this weekend, building on her earlier momentum. Almost all of the other Democratic candidates have already campaigned in New Hampshire, and Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is planning to wind up his announcement tour there early next month.
