Woman, 71, Killed in Collision Near Mall

A Fairfax County woman was killed yesterday morning when the car she was in turned into the path of another vehicle near the Springfield Mall, Fairfax police said.

Ok Suk Yun, 71, of the 5400 block of Montgomery Avenue in Springfield was in the front passenger seat of a car driven by her 79-year-old husband, whose name was not released. It was southbound on Loisdale Road about 8:45 a.m. when it tried to turn left into the mall parking lot near Spring Mall Drive, police said. A Ford heading north on Loisdale hit the passenger side of the car, knocking it into a bus, police said.

Yun was pronounced dead at Inova Healthplex. Her husband was taken to another hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The driver of the Ford was not injured.

STABBING

Man Stabbed While Thwarting Robbery

A man was stabbed last night in the Lorton area of Fairfax County when he went to the aid of two women who were being robbed, police said. He was taken to a hospital, and his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said the incident occurred about 9:15 p.m. in the 8300 block of Accotink Road.
