VIRGINIA BRIEFING
COURTS
Man Gets 10 Years for Fatal '06 Stabbing
A Herndon man was convicted of manslaughter Thursday in the stabbing of another man in Herndon last May and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
William Green, 34, of Reston was stabbed in the 1100 block of Clarke Street after an altercation with Donald Lee Caison Jr., 24. Caison testified that Green punched him in the face and that he ran from Green who pursued him with a knife. Caison said he struggled, got the knife, swung and ran. Caison called police and surrendered that day.
A Fairfax County jury could not reach a verdict last week, and the case was retried this week.. After learning that Caison had been convicted of maiming in 2003, the jury recommended the maximum penalty for manslaughter. The term could be reduced but not increased at an April 27 hearing.

Man Charged in Five Incidents at Banks

At 4:05 p.m., at the BB&T branch at 7000 Bland St., a note again resulted in no cash. At 4:25 p.m., an effort at the BB&T branch at 7509 Huntsman Blvd. was fruitless as well.
Later, police arrested Brian C. Johnson, 39, in his home in the 8600 block of Bent Arrow Court in the Springfield area.
Police allege he robbed a SunTrust branch at 9596 Old Keene Mill Rd. on Jan. 27, again passing a note, and a Chevy Chase Bank in the Giant Food store at 7501 Huntsman Blvd. on Jan. 29. Johnson was charged with three counts of attempted robbery and two counts of robbery, police said.
