Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas said yesterday he wasn't bothered by comments Coach Eddie Jordan made about his lack of leadership following Sunday's 21-point loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
"I'm a goof, c'mon, everyone knows that," Arenas said. "I look at the elders as the leaders on this team. I look at Antawn [Jamison] and when Antawn's down, I look at Antonio Daniels and Calvin Booth. I don't want anyone looking at me. I'm a floor general. I play. I do my things on the floor. How can I tell somebody, 'Don't shoot that shot,' when I'm out there chucking them up? I mean, let's be real."
Arenas said he was surprised by the attention given to his criticism of Jordan following Sunday's game. "If that would've happened three years ago, nobody would've noticed, so I guess that's a good thing," Arenas said. "We're getting attention now."
Arenas also has been ducking his father, Gilbert Arenas Sr., because he knows he's going to have to explain himself.
"My dad's been trying to call me for the last couple of days, but I don't want to hear that right now," Arenas said. "He's going to ask, 'What are you doing?' "Agent Zero Strikes Again
Arenas said he's had 100 jerseys made up with one of his nicknames, "Agent Zero," on the back in place of his last name. He said he's going to toss the jerseys out to the crowd during Sunday's All-Star Game in Las Vegas.
Arenas also said he's thinking about wearing the jersey for the game itself. When told that he may be fined for such a move, Arenas broke into a smile.
"It's worth it," he said. "It's going to feel special."Ticket Prices Unchanged
The Washington Wizards announced that the price of season tickets and partial season ticket plans will not increase for the 2007-08 season. All renewing plan holders will qualify for discounted playoff tickets this season.
