Candace Parker scored 29 points and No. 2 Tennessee dodged a huge upset bid with a 75-68 overtime victory over Arkansas last night in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Lady Volunteers led 62-59 with less than 15 seconds left in regulation when Arkansas was forced to foul Shannon Bobbitt. Bobbitt missed the front end of a one-and-one and Arkansas rebounded. Dominique Washington's three-pointer missed, but the ball was knocked back to Washington, who made an open three-pointer to tie it at 62. Parker's long shot at the end of regulation rimmed out.
Bobbitt had 15 points for Tennessee (26-2, 13-0 Southeastern Conference) and Alexis Hornbuckle added 12. Washington scored 21 points -- all on three-pointers -- for Arkansas (18-11, 3-10).
· VANDERBILT 68, LSU 58: Carla Thomas scored 23 points and the No. 12 Commodores beat the visiting No. 7 Tigers for their seventh straight victory and first over a top 10 team since March 2003.
With the win, Vanderbilt (24-4, 10-3) snapped a tie with LSU for third and moved into a tie with Georgia for second in the SEC, though Georgia holds the tiebreaker. LSU (23-6, 9-4) has lost three of its last four.
· OHIO ST. 78, PENN ST. 61: Jessica Davenport scored 26 points and Ashlee Trebilcock had 17 to help the host No. 5 Buckeyes clinch at least a share of their third Big Ten title in a row.
Ohio State (25-2, 14-1) leads Purdue by a game heading into their regular season finale at Michigan on Sunday. Star Allen added 22 points for the Buckeyes, who captured a piece of their 10th Big Ten title. Tyra Grant scored 17 points for the Nittany Lions (13-15, 6-9).
· PURDUE 76, IOWA 52: Katie Gearlds scored 28 points and Erin Lawless added 18 to help the No. 15 Boilermakers win at home.
Purdue (24-5, 13-2 Big Ten) had lost two of its previous three home games. Kristi Smith led Iowa (13-15, 5-10) with 11 points.
· ILLINOIS 56, MICHIGAN ST. 46: Lori Bjork had 12 points and Chelsea Gordon and Erin Wigley added nine apiece to help the Illini upset the No. 20 Spartans.
Victoria Lucas-Perry led Michigan State (21-7, 12-3 Big Ten) with 14 points and six rebounds, while guard Mia Johnson added 11 points. Illinois (18-9, 8-7) led 31-21 at halftime.
