Winning Reston Art

A contemporary art exhibition of winning artists from 10 shows sponsored by the League of Reston Artists opens tomorrow and runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through the end of the month, at the University of Phoenix Northern Virginia Campus at 11730 Plaza America Dr., Suite 200, in Reston.

There is an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m.

The league sponsored 18 exhibitions in 2006.

Herndon Student Exhibit

Art by Herndon High School students will be on exhibit at the main gallery of the Greater Reston Arts Center through March, along with a show of art from South Africa in the media gallery.

An opening reception for the student art show is scheduled for 6 to8 p.m. tomorrow. The reception for the South African show, "Art from Camp Sizanani" will be 6 to 8 p.m. March 8.

Herndon High's jazz band will perform at a special open gallery night, 6 to 8 p.m. March 14.

The gallery, at 1201 Market St., Suite 102, is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

She'll Sing if She Wants To

Lesley Gore, a singing sensation in the 1960s, will be in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Alden Theatre, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean. Gore had a string of hits, including "It's My Party" and "You Don't Own Me."

Artwork in Pairs

Sculpture by Gwen Lockhart and oils by Susan Norman will be shown from Tuesday to April 1 at the Loft Gallery, 313 Mill St., Occoquan, with an artist reception from 1 to 4 p.m. March 11.

Lockhart and Norman have collaborated to present six two-dimensional paintings with six similar three-dimensional pieces of sculpture.

The gallery's hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays to Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. For more information, visit http://www.loftgallery.org or call 703-490-1117.
