As of press time, you could jet nonstop to eight islands from Reagan National, Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall and Washington Dulles International airports. It's also possible to fly nonstop on charter package deals through such companies as Apple Vacations and Liberty Travel.

· Aruba. United Airlines (800-241-6522,http://www.united.com) offers flights Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Dulles to Reina Beatrix International Airport. Flight time is 4 1/2 hours. Fares from $416.

· Bahamas. US Airways (800-428-4322,http://www.usairways.com) offers daily flights from Reagan National to Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau; from $290. United has departures from Dulles on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays; from $284. Flight time from both airports is 2 1/2 hours.
