Gertrude BenezraHomemaker, China Painter

Gertrude Rosen Benezra, 91, a Washington area homemaker since 1954 whose avocations included china painting and gambling, died Feb. 19 at a hospice in Hollywood, Fla. She had lung cancer.

Mrs. Benezra, a Bronx native, was a longtime resident of Leisure World in Silver Spring.

She painted flowers and figures on china plates, bowls and tea services. She also enjoyed playing mah-jongg, bridge, canasta and slot machines.

Until her late 80s, she always wore high heels. She remained fond of wearing attention-getting dresses and hats.

Her husband, Robert J. Benezra, died in 1975.

Survivors include two children, Barbara Benezra of Hollywood and Douglas Benezra of Portland, Ore.; a brother; and two granddaughters.
