Chords of Hope in Grief Over Son's Death

You can't help but think Aaron would have approved.

"He was really good with kids," Cheri said. "He was extraordinary with kids. . . . He would have been a good teacher."

For information on volunteering (you don't need to know how to play the guitar, Skip said) or on donating, go to http://www.guitarsnotguns.org, click on "Locations" and go to "Virginia."

Hexagoner

Tomorrow night, I'll meet WJLA's Leon Harris when the two of us read faux news stories as "Newsbreak" presenters at the annual Hexagon show. (This year's show, through March 24 at the Ellington School in Georgetown, raises money for Ronald McDonald House Charities; for info: http://www.hexagon.org.)

Won't Leon have an unfair advantage, I asked show director Ian Grossman, given that he's a real anchorman?

Oh no, Ian said. Good "Newsbreak" presenters come from all walks of life. "It's really all about the delivery," he said.

Who are the worst ones, I asked. Said Ian: "Without naming names, I'll say some of the challenges are those who are overconfident in their skill and decide that they have some of their own ideas to add on to the material. As is so often the case, if it was funnier, it would have been in the script to begin with."

I got it, Ian. I'll stick to the script.
