Child's Play

Before Bratz and Yu-Gi-Oh! hit the scene, there were the Muppets, the Thundercats and those colorful bearers of morality and goodwill, the Care Bears. Devoted fans could give a Care Bear stare with the best of 'em and eagerly sang along with the Care Bear countdown: "5, 4, 3, 2, 1!"

If you ever wished you lived in their land of clouds and rainbows, you won't want to miss the limited-edition rerelease of The Care Bears Movie ($19.98, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment), which is hitting stores Tuesday. When the film first ran in theaters in 1985, it earned $22.9 million and since has sold more than 5 million copies.

In this tale, the cuddly characters do nothing less than save the world while helping a magician's apprentice who falls under the influence of an evil spirit. Notable voices include Mickey Rooney and Carole King, who wrote and sang a couple of the movie's songs.

If you don't have a little one to introduce this flick to, grab your vintage stuffed Funshine Bear and check it out for nostalgia's sake. We won't tell.
