In his March 27 letter, Kristinn Taylor, spokesman for the Gathering of Eagles, asserted that there is no evidence that a counter-protester threw manure at antiwar protesters during the March 17 march on the Pentagon.
I step forward to assure Mr. Taylor that it is true: I was hit by the pro-war manure. Thankfully, because of its high fiber content, it fell off and left no residue.
In response to Mr. Taylor's allegation of racism and ageism in another letter-writer's description of the counter-protesters as "overwhelmingly white and older": Is it racist and ageist to say that I was profoundly sad to note that the counter-protesters looked a lot like me?
I was also saddened by the fact that the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was taken hostage for a day by people who purported to protect it.
