Here are some facts and figures about the government center and the environment:

· The 670,000-square-foot building has a five-story atrium; a paved, lighted track on the rear lawn; a 450-seat cafeteria; and an exercise facility. It used 15.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity in 2006, at a cost of $844,000. Five percent of the county's electricity is from wind power.

· The complex has 2,893 parking spaces. A Fairfax Connector bus route runs between the government center and the Vienna Metro station.

· The building has 19,753 light fixtures, many of which were fitted last year with low-wattage, fluorescent bulbs.

· The building's 1,700 employees are encouraged to stagger their workday schedules and to work from home. More than 500 employees telework at least once a week, with an estimated savings of 20,000 miles traveled.
