Swimmer of the Year

Amanda Kendall, Robinson, So ph .

The two-time All-Met defended her Virginia AAA championships in the sprint freestyle events. She won the 50-meter freestyle with an automatic all-American time of 26.47 seconds and took the 100 freestyle with an automatic all-American time of 57.17. She also anchored the Rams' all-American and state champion 400 freestyle relay (3:55.88).

Coach of the Year

Dave Lassiter, Yorktown

Guided the Patriots to their second consecutive AAA state championship. Yorktown's 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays were the fastest in the area. They finished first at states with automatic all-American times of 2:01.35 and 1:49.04, respectively.

First Team

Rachael Burnett, Annandale, So ph .-- Won the state 500-meter freestyle title with an automatic all-American time of 5:28.82. She also finished third in the 200 freestyle (2:06.60). Burnett became the Atoms' first state champion in any sport since 2003.

Ellyn Baumgardner, Fairfax, So ph .-- Won the AAA state 100-meter breaststroke title with an automatic all-American time of 1:10.31. Her victory in that event at the Northern Region championships helped the Rebels defend their team title.

Ashley Danner, Lake Braddock, Jr.-- A three-time All-Met, Danner finished second at the Virginia AAA meet in the 100-meter breaststroke with an automatic all-American time of 1:10.33. She also took second in the 100 freestyle (57.64) and swam an automatic all-American time in the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.52) during the season.

Molly Emery, Lake Braddock, Jr.-- Tied Robinson's Lauren Kranz for the state 200-meter individual medley championship (2:22.45). She also placed fourth at states in the 500 freestyle (5:35.89)

Hailey Hewitt, Robinson, Jr.-- Placed second in the 100-meter butterfly (1:04.09) at states and fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:05.64). She also swam on the Rams' state champion 400 freestyle relay that finished with an automatic all-American time of 3:55.88.

Katy Hinkle, Yorktown, Sr.-- The two-time All-Met led the Patriots to their second consecutive Virginia AAA team title. Hinkle led Yorktown's all-American and state champion 200-meter medley (2:01.35) and 200 freestyle relays (1:49.04). She finished second at states in the 50 freestyle (26.61) and third in the 100 freestyle (57.88). Will swim for Harvard.

Lauren Kranz, Robinson, Jr.-- Tied Lake Braddock's Emery for the AAA state 200-meter individual medley title (2:22.45). The Northern Region 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle champion also placed third at states in the 500-meter freestyle with an automatic all-American time of 5:29.98.

Thea Kromer, Yorktown, Sr.-- Helped Yorktown win its second straight AAA championship by finishing third in the 200-meter individual medley (2:23.93) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:04.89). She also swam on the Patriots' state champion and automatic all-American 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

Maren Taylor, Yorktown, Soph.-- Was the Patriots' only individual champion at their victorious AAA state meet. She won the one-meter diving championship with 420.93 points and swam on the victorious all-American 200 freestyle relay.
