Richmond:2 p.m. Saturday. The Confederate Heritage Parade, with reenactment military bands, cavalry units and artillery pieces among other units, will begin at DMV Drive, travel along downtown streets and conclude at the Confederate section of Hollywood Cemetery with a short program. Free.

Alexandria:10 a.m. April 28. At the Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site, a used Civil War book sale, sponsored by the friends of Fort Ward. Free. 703-838-4848.

Fort Washington: Noon and 1, 2 and 3 p.m. May 6. At Fort Washington Park, the Fort Washington Guard, dressed in Civil War uniforms, will demonstrate and explain muzzle-loading procedures.
