U.S. DISTRICT COURT
Judge's Illness Delays Developer Sentencing
Downtown developer Douglas Jemal's sentencing was rescheduled for 10 a.m. today because the judge who is supposed to decide his punishment was ill yesterday.
Prosecutors have asked that Jemal, who was convicted in October of felony fraud, serve four years in prison, while Jemal is asking U.S. District Judge Ricardo M. Urbina to give him probation.
A deputy of Jemal's, Blake Esherick, received eight months in prison after he was convicted of the same fraud charge and two counts of tax evasion.
