GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Atlantic Coast Conference will hold a moment of silence during each of its spring championships in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech massacre, the conference announced Thursday.
The pauses will be held at the start of opening day competition, beginning this weekend. Signs saying "Today, we are all Hokies" will be displayed, and athletes will be given black wristbands.

"We as a league will continue to remember those who lost their lives and honor our friends, colleagues and fellow students at Virginia Tech," Commissioner John Swofford said in a written statement.
Virginia Tech left the Big East and joined the ACC for the 2004-2005 season.
Championships being held this weekend include men's golf, men and women's tennis, men and women's track and field, and women's rowing.
