Here's another farm, a 520-acre Howard County beauty that offers educational tours by appointment, nature trails, a greenhouse and animals to feed and beekeepers to watch.

You can also learn to read a compass or build a birdhouse. There are living history programs and a farm museum and a lot of harvest activity, including pumpkin picking, a corn maze, hayrides and campfires.

How much: This one is free. There is a charge for tours. Prices vary.

When: 10 a.m-5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays-Saturdays; noon-5 p.m. Sundays. Closed Tuesdays. Mid-April through mid-June and mid-September through mid-November. It is open by appointment during the offseason.
