How miserable of developer Milt Peterson to seek to take "The Awakening" away from Hains Point ["Grand Vision for National Harbor Takes Form," front page, April 22]. No wonder the purchase was kept secret.

As for its planned home: It sounds like it would be surrounded by a lot of other dramatic and interesting sculpture. National Harbor will do very well as an attraction without this stunningly interesting work.

Mr. Peterson says he's hoping to stir up controversy. Let's give it to him. He clearly thinks he's home free, but it's not too late to start a campaign to keep "The Awakening" where it is, where it belongs -- surprising new visitors to Hains Point and continuing to entertain and captivate those of us who consider it an old friend.
