It Won't Be the Hilton, Paris

Paris Hilton is headed for the slammer. The heiress turned reality star, 26, was sentenced yesterday to 45 days in jail by a Los Angeles judge for violating her probation, the Associated Press reports. Before the sentence was announced, she told the judge, "I'm very sorry and from now on I'm going to pay complete attention to everything. I'm sorry and I did not do it on purpose at all."

Sentenced to 36 months probation and $1,500 in fines after a drunk-driving arrest in September, Hilton was later caught twice driving with a suspended license. She reports to jail June 5; her attorney says she'll appeal.

Cheadle's Levity for a Cause

Don Cheadle has an advantage over fellow actor-activist Angelina Jolie : namely, a ready sense of humor.

The "Reign Over Me" star playfully threw his green "Not on my watch" bracelet at us while demanding we take the trinket ("I have 11,000 of them!") and swore never to write another book. Cheadle co-authored "Not on Our Watch" with human rights activist John Prendergast and was at the Mayflower Hotel on Thursday to promote it.

Cheadle said he wrote the book about genocide in Darfur "because I wanted to embarrass myself." (It was really a trip to Darfur in 2004 with his family and Prendergast that spawned the idea.)

"I wanted it to be easily digestible," said the 42-year-old actor. "I wanted a book where you could flip the pages and find exercises as you would in acting books, except this would be activist exercises." The book, which features suggestions on how to raise awareness of the Sudanese region, has already been handed to Sens. Sam Brownback and Barack Obama . Cheadle, however, isn't ruling out the idea of an aerial drop on the White House.

We had to ask: What does Cheadle think of "Ocean's Thirteen" co-star Brad Pitt 's famous brood with Jolie? "They're very ill-behaved," he said with a straight face. "I think it's a testament to his poor parenting skills and he should be looked into."

Not Hasselhoff's Favorite Film Role

Yet another celebri-dad has learned his lesson on the power of technology.

A videotape of a very drunk David Hasselhoff hit the Internet on Thursday, just a few weeks after TMZ.com published a recording of an angry voice mail that Alec Baldwin left for his daughter.

The tape shows the shirtless former "Baywatch" star, 54, lying on the floor while attempting to eat a hamburger. A female voice can be heard urging Hasselhoff to stop drinking.

Hasselhoff released a statement through his publicist acknowledging that he's a recovering alcoholic. He said his two daughters made the tape for him to show how he acted when he was drunk."The tape was never meant to become public but got into the hands of individuals who are not worthy of mentioning, who maliciously released the tape for their own self-purpose. I hope that someone else will learn from the tape, as I have."

Spotted . . .

ยท Tony Snow , decked out in work attire, performing for an hour with his band, Beats Workin', at a Landon School fundraiser Thursday night. Our spy says the White House press secretary seemed to be having a blast, jamming on his guitar with tie flipped over shoulder. Beats Workin' has another gig May 14 at the National Press Club, but White House spokeswoman Emily Lawrimore says Snow isn't burning the candle at both ends: Performances have "been infrequent this year. The White House press corps keeps him pretty busy." Snow squeezed in his first round of chemotherapy yesterday, following surgery several weeks ago to remove a cancerous abdominal growth.
