George Washington coach Karl Hobbs was selected Wednesday as an assistant coach for the U.S. men's under-19 basketball team that will compete at this summer's world championship.
Hobbs will join a staff headed by DePaul coach Jerry Wainwright and assisted by Bruiser Flint of Drexel. Hobbs was selected by the USA Basketball collegiate committee chaired by Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim.
The U-19 world championship will be held July 12-22 in Novi Sad, Serbia. Tryouts for the U.S. team will begin June 28.
Hobbs has led George Washington to three consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament.
