Authorities are investigating the stabbing of an inmate at a minimum-security prison in Jessup.
Major Priscilla Doggett with the Division of Correction said the inmate was stabbed several times by another inmate with a makeshift knife. It happened around 3:20 p.m. on the basketball court at the Jessup Pre-Release Unit.
The injured inmate was flown to Shock Trauma and is in stable condition. Authorities have found a suspected weapon.
Many of the inmates at the unit work on road crews. The facility is meant to help inmates prepare for work-release programs and other jobs as they transition back into the community.
