On May 15, the D.C. Council voted to eliminate $500,000 in funding for the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., instead allocating $100,000 to parks and recreation, $200,000 to the Office of Latino Affairs and $200,000 to an anti-violence group. The Historical Society is working to get the money reinstated before the council's final budget vote, which is scheduled for June 5.
