Gymnast of the Year

Lisa Faulkner, Langley, Sr.

After a two-year absence from high school gymnastics, Faulkner returned and climbed back to the top of the standings. She won the Northern Region all-around title, becoming the regional beam champion, and went on to place second all-around at the Virginia state individual championships.

Coaches of the Year

Keith Naquin, Herndon

Maureen Naquin, Chantilly

The husband-wife tandem coached the two teams together to great success. Herndon won the Concorde District and Northern Region titles, and Chantilly placed second. At the state meet, Chantilly placed third, and Herndon placed fourth.

First Team

Caroline Grady, Jefferson, Jr.

The Liberty District all-around champion placed fourth in the Northern Region, including a second-place finish on the floor. She was 11th all-around at the Virginia state individual championships.

Maria Hayden, Herndon, Fr.

After winning the all-around title in the Concorde District, Hayden placed second in the Northern Region and fourth at the Virginia state individual championships, becoming the state bars champion with a score of 9.85.

Emily Parillo, Lake Braddock, Soph.

She excelled on the floor, becoming the Northern Region champion with a score of 9.575 and placing 12th in the event at the state championships.

Taryn Saunders, Chantilly, Sr.

She finished third all-around in the Concorde District and Northern Region and 13th all-around at the Virginia state individual championships.

Elly Taura, Chantilly, Soph.

Taura captured second all-around in the Concorde District, becoming the district vault champion and tying for first on vault in the Northern Region. She tied for fifth on the vault at the state competition.
