Class of KidsPost
Oak Hill Elementary

Monday, June 11, 2007

The sixth-graders in John McCook's class at Oak Hill Elementary in Fairfax are the 2006-07 school year's final Class of KidsPost. But we'll be back in the fall, asking classes all over the area to tell us what's on their minds!

Favorite author: J.K. Rowling won with 5 votes. But Eoin Colfer, D.J. McHale and Christopher Paolini all have fans in this class.

Favorite TV show: A four-way tie -- "American Idol," "What Not to Wear" "MythBusters" and "America's Funniest Home Videos" got 2 votes each.

Favorite thing to collect: Music downloads and coins tied with 3 votes each.

Favorite game system: GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Wii tied with 3 votes each.

Favorite musical performer: What wide-ranging musical tastes this group has. They said they like James Galway, Mozart, Eminem, the Beach Boys, Black-Eyed Peas, All-American Rejects and Clay Aiken.

Do you have a pet? This class takes care of cats, dogs, fish, geckos, hamsters, parakeets and even a blue-tongued skink. (Way cool!)

What do you want to be when you grow up? Video game designer, doctor, scientist, engineer, laywer and track star all were mentioned. Our favorite answer to this question, however, was the kid who wrote "wealthy." (Thanks for making us chuckle.)

Is there a language other than English spoken in your house? Russian, Farsi, Spanish, Hindi and Chinese were mentioned.

What's the biggest problem in the world today? The war and President Bush were mentioned by 10 kids; global warming, poverty, gangs and obesity also concerned these kids.
