Someone produced a shotgun and fired a round, striking a 17-year-old in the face. Prince George's County police Cpl. Diane Richardson said the victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
An 18-year-old was also hit with shot from the shell and was treated for minor injuries, she said. Richardson said police were interviewing witnesses and had made no arrests as of yesterday afternoon.

Howard Police Officer Hit by Car
A Howard County police officer working a traffic detail was injured seriously when he was hit by a car Saturday afternoon.
Authorities identified the officer as Scott Wheeler, 31, who has been with the department for 6 1/2 years. They said Wheeler was out of his vehicle and enforcing speed limits with two other officers on eastbound Route 32 near Route 1 when he was hit by a Nissan Sentra about 2 p.m.
He was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition. The incident is under investigation.
