Diana Taurasi scored 25 points to lead the Mercury (7-6), which had won three of four. Penny Taylor added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists before fouling out with 3 minutes 40 seconds left, and Tangela Smith had 20 points and seven rebounds.

The Mystics led by eight in the second quarter, and Phoenix had the same size lead in the third period.
