Apparently, all that swooping around the city and catching thieves just like flies can get to a superhero, because Spider-Man allegedly robbed a Fairfax County pharmacy Monday afternoon, stealing some drugs.
Police said a man wearing a red Spider-Man mask entered the Giant grocery at 9550 Burke Rd., in the Burke Village Center, about 3 p.m. and walked to the pharmacy at the rear. He waited for one pharmacist to leave, then stealthily darted behind the counter, implied that he had a weapon -- no mention of a web -- and demanded the painkiller OxyContin. A pharmacist opened a safe and gave him some, and then Spider-Man escaped.
Officer Camille Neville, a Fairfax police spokeswoman, said that "no other superheroes have been involved" in any other holdups, although she noted that bank robbers often wear masks. This suspect was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He eschewed the rest of the Spider-Man costume in favor of a blue sweatshirt and blue shorts.
