I've moved more times than I care to count and left behind more things than I care to remember. I don't weep at the sight of diamonds or fall into a depression when a designer dud rips. But there is a painting that has welcomed me home at every place I've called home for the past 15 years: a landscape by Donald Jurney. I hang it first, then choose the sofas, paint and pillows. When people admire it, I feel absurdly proud, as if I painted it myself. And I plan to live with it as long as it will have me.
