Down on the Farm
Visit more than a dozen Montgomery County farms Saturday and Sunday during the 18th annual self-guided Farm Tour and Harvest Sale. (Some will be open only on Saturday.) Activities will vary at each site. Some will offer hayrides, pony rides and live music. On Saturday, the Red Wiggler Community Farm in Germantown will host "ArtFarm," a multimedia arts festival by Concerts in the Country with music, puppetry, storytelling, exhibits and dance. Pick up maps and brochures at the Upcounty Regional Services Center, 12900 Middlebrook Rd., Germantown, or Montgomery County libraries, or download them from the Web site.

Play in the Dirt
Help archaeologists search for the house and kitchen of John Morecroft, a 17th-century doctor, merchant and lawyer, during Tidewater Archaeology Weekend Saturday and Sunday at Historic St. Mary's City, Maryland's first capital, settled in 1634. Morecroft's property was described in a 1672 survey. There will also be living history portrayals, visits to the archaeology lab, walking tours and outdoor exhibits. The Maryland Dove, a replica of a 75-foot tall ship, will also be open. Admission is $10, seniors $8, students $6, ages 6 to 12 $3.50, younger free.

Tasty Grapes
Sample wines from local vineyards and around the world at the International Great Grapes Wine, Arts and Food Festival Saturday and Sunday at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds. There will also be demonstrations by celebrity chefs, talks by cookbook authors and entertainment by the Junkyard Saints, the Jack Diamond Band and other acts. Tickets cost $20 at the gate, $10 for designated drivers, age 12 and younger free.
