Sure, the Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu and the Roman Colosseum are all well and good, but with all the brouhaha over the "Seven New Wonders of the World," we couldn't help but notice that the United States was, um, trounced.

We believe that our own mid-Atlantic region has plenty of man-made wonders of its own, and we're planning to devote an upcoming issue to the Top Seven -- once we figure out what they are. The Statue of Liberty? The Washington Monument? Monticello? Fallingwater? Camden Yards? The Chesapeake Bay Bridge?

That's where you come in. Help us winnow down the choices by nominating the Top Man-Made Wonders of the Region, within a five-hour drive of the Washington Beltway. E-mail us at travel@washpost.com with your suggestions (put "Wonders" in the subject field). We'll tally the results, determine the top nominees and then set up an online poll so that everyone can vote for the final seven.
