The Blue and the Gray

Step back in time Saturday and Sunday at the annual Civil War Weekend at Sully Historic Site in Chantilly, which was visited by both Confederate and Union troops in 1861 and 1862. Reenactors will conduct skirmishes with cavalry and artillery, costumed interpreters will portray daily life of the era and there will be traditional games, music and a 19th-century fashion show. Admission is $6, seniors and children $4, and includes a guided tour of the 1794 home of Richard Bland Lee, uncle of Robert E. Lee.

Love Triumphs

The Wolf Trap Opera Company concludes its season with "The Magic Flute" Friday and Saturday in the Filene Center. In Mozart's comic tale, young Prince Tamino and his sidekick, Papageno, brave mystical ordeals to rescue Princess Pamina from the evil Monostatos. Fair Days in Arlington

The 31st annual Arlington County Fair winds down Sunday at Thomas Jefferson Community Center. This year's theme is "A Family of Neighbors." The fair showcases the county's multiethnic variety with entertainment on multiple stages; educational and cultural exhibits by community organizations; carnival rides and games; a rock-climbing wall; police K-9 demonstrations; pony rides and pig races; a petting zoo; and international foods. More than a dozen nationally ranked professional "gurgitators," including local stars Juliet Lee and Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas, will face off at the Three Brothers Pizza World Pizza Eating Championship on Saturday in Greenbelt. Chicago chef Pat Bertoletti will be on hand to defend his record of downing 19 slices in 10 minutes. The bell for the pro show, sanctioned by Major League Eating, rings at 3; preliminary festivities start at 11 and amateur overeaters compete at 1. Admission is free.
