First daughter Jenna Bush is engaged to long-time boyfriend Henry Hager, the president and first lady announced this afternoon. Hager, 29, popped the question to the 25-year-old teacher yesterday in Maine.
No wedding date has been set, said Sally McDonough, press secretary for Laura Bush.
Hager, currently a student at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business, is the son of Maggie and John Hager, the former lieutenant governor of Virginia.
Hager met the blonde first twin during the 2004 presidential campaign, and the two have been a couple ever since. The first lady originally said he wasn't a "serious boyfriend," but the two were spotted together in Texas, Richmond and Washington D.C., most notably at the November 2005 White House dinner for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.
There was speculation the romance ended when she headed to Latin America and he to UVA last fall, but the acknowledgments to her upcoming book, "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope," include nods to her "amazing" parents and "my patient Henry."
No word if we'll see a White House wedding before the president leaves office. Jenna is scheduled to begin a book tour in September, and just signed to write a children's book with her mother. Laura Bush told USA Today that her daughter was likely to return to teaching after the tour -- but then again, maybe her plans changed yesterday.
