With schools starting, parents will soon be supplying snacks to classrooms and numerous other activities. But as a growing number of school districts ban home-made food, it can be a challenge to find healthful snacks that also taste good.

In today's Lean Plate Club column, learn the results of a snack taste test that I conducted with the help of 29 third and fourth grade students from the H.D. Cooke elementary school in Washington, D.C. They were all participants in Horizons, a summer program held at The Maret School.
