FEREBEE-HOPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Security Guard Stable After Being Stabbed

A security guard was stabbed at a D.C. elementary school yesterday afternoon, police said.

Police were called about 2 p.m. to Ferebee-Hope Elementary School, in the 3900 block of Eighth Street SE, where they found a woman with numerous stab wounds. She was hospitalized in stable but critical condition.

Police said they were seeking a male suspect.

TURKEY THICKET RECREATION CENTER

Back-to-School Party to Help Prepare Students

The United Planning Organization is sponsoring a party to help prepare students for the start of the school year in the District.

The event is from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Turkey Thicket Recreation Center, 1100 Michigan Ave. NE. Backpacks full of school supplies will be distributed, and barbers and hairstylists will be available, organizers said.
