I was thrilled to read that a stand-alone emergency medical facility in Germantown is celebrating its first anniversary [Metro, Aug. 7]. But Shady Grove Adventist Emergency Center is not "Maryland's only stand-alone emergency medical facility," nor was it the first.

Bowie Health Center opened its doors in 1979. We provide care, including emergency services, from 8 a.m. to midnight 365 days a year.
