Campbell's Confidence: In a perfect world, quarterback Jason Campbell, in his first game back after taking a direct blow to his blind side, would lead a quick scoring drive and hit the showers with some confidence. Facing a real pass rush for the first time since his hit will test him a bit, particularly with a sore knee.

Portis Present? It was pretty clear this week that Coach Joe Gibbs would like tailback Clinton Portis to get 4-5 carries tonight, but that's not certain, especially given Portis's aversion to preseason. His knee tendinitis is a concern and his preseason has been a wash.

Who's Second? Veteran Mark Brunell has had a rough preseason, while Todd Collins has flourished in pursuit of the job of being Campbell's backup. But Brunell figures to get a long look tonight before a crowd that cheered him in his heyday with Jacksonville. He needs to show something more tonight.

For Pete's Sake: Left guard Pete Kendall is game for making his Redskins debut tonight, as long as the playbook is vanilla. He has practiced just once with the team since being acquired from the Jets and is just getting to know his teammates and this scheme, but will be protecting Campbell's blind side along with undrafted rookie tackle Stephon Heyer.

The Kids Are All Right: Some surprise candidates are still fighting for roster spots on a defense that is trending younger. Rookie ends Alex Buzbee (Georgetown) and Chris Wilson are battling to add depth to the left end position and have flashed some pass-rushing ability.
