Why go: A classic beach town turns to classic cars and leather-clad bikers to rev up its fall season.

Temperatures: Air and water temperatures are comparable to those in Rehoboth.

Lodging: Ocean City rental home prices drop a minimum of 20 percent and often more than 50 percent in the fall, according to Susan L. Jones, executive director of the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association. For example, Holiday Real Estate advertised a one-bedroom oceanfront unit with a balcony for $1,155 weekly this past June; the rate plummets to $475 in September. For a good number of properties, week-long minimum stays are dropped, too.

Don't miss: Ocean City celebrates the fall season with . . . Wayne Newton? The king of kitsch is scheduled to perform at the annual music and arts festival called Sunfest, which runs Sept. 20-23; free.

Other events: About 100,000 bikers are expected to roll their motorcycles into the Ocean City area Sept. 13-16 for Delmarva Bike Week. . . . Nearly 1,500 classic cars and hot rods will be on display Oct. 4-7 for the 10th annual Endless Summer Cruisin' event. . . . Fill your belly with schnitzels and beer during Oktoberfest Oct. 5-7.
