10 -- The 2007 Metro DC Dance Awards honor local artists in 15 categories and features performances by Culture Shock, Edgeworks Dance Theater and others. At Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater.
13 -- "Traces: Urban Acrobatics," a new production by Montreal's Les 7 Doigts de la Main. At Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater. Through Sept. 15.
14 -- Princess Mhoon Cooper explores romantic love and entanglements in "Dangerous Liaisons," based on the film of the same name, along with two other works. At Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. Through Sept. 15.
15 -- Dance Place's 27th Anniversary Benefit Concert and Party celebrates dance educators Melvin Deal, Meriam Rosen, Naima Prevots and Yvonne Edwards, and features a preview of artists performing throughout the season. At Dance Place.
20 -- Margaret Jenkins Dance Company performs "A Slipping Glimpse," with music by the Paul Dresher Ensemble, with the Tanusree Shankar Dance Company. At Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Kay Theatre. Through Sept. 22.
22 -- ProjectMULTIpolarity: Francesca Jandasek Acayan and Dancers. At Dance Place. Through Sept. 23.

28 -- DC Improvisation Festival, with ongoing, site-specific performances by local improvisation artists, including Jane Franklin and Nancy Havlik's Dance Performance Group. G Street downtown, between Seventh and 12th streets. Through Sept. 30.
29 -- Dance DC Festival features free classes, workshops, demonstrations and performances. At Dance Place and the Atlas Performing Arts Center.
