Picking times listed here are approximate and subject to change. Most sites also sell other fall fruits and vegetables along with such seasonal items as cider, baked goods, honey, jams and fall decorations. Most also have picnic tables and bathrooms or portable toilets. Growers encourage pickers to sample an occasional fruit, but don't eat up the orchard's profits by munching a bunch before weighing and paying for the fruits of your labor. Call ahead or check an orchard's Web site for information about special events, container availability, prices (some orchards sell by the pound, others by the bushel) and accepted payment methods.
