The Redskins got a 35-yard field goal from Shaun Suisham as the opening period expired. The key play of that scoring drive was a 48-yard completion from Jason Campbell to Santana Moss, who dived to make the catch. Moss had beaten cornerback William James, whom the Redskins targeted because he was replacing the injured Lito Sheppard (knee). Washington ran a balanced offense (10 rushes, nine passes) and looked crisp during the quarter except for two drops. The defense held Eagles running back Brian Westbrook mostly in check and did not surrender big plays. Linebacker Marcus Washington sacked quarterback Donovan McNabb late in the quarter.
