Two D.C. police officers said a teenager driving a stolen Jaguar tried to run them down in the Petworth neighborhood last night.

The officers said that when they tried to stop the 15-year-old behind the wheel at about 6:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Allison Street NW, he tried to hit them with the car.

According to Capt. Anthony M. Poteat of the Fourth District, police were in the neighborhood on another call, a domestic disturbance, when they noticed the Jaguar double-parked with the engine running and someone sleeping inside. The car had Maryland tags.

The officers said that when they walked up to the window, the person inside woke up and sped off. The teenager hit one officer with the car, then tried to back up to hit the other officer. Both officers were injured slightly, one with a fractured right thumb.

The teenager crashed the Jaguar a few blocks away, and was apprehended as he tried to flee on foot. The police did not release the youth's name.
