PJM is a federally regulated regional transmission organization that operates a wholesale electricity market.

Headquarters: Norristown, Pa.

Service area: Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District.

Members:500, including power generators, transmission owners, electricity distributors, power marketers and large consumers.

Population served:51 million.

Transmission lines:56,250 miles.

Energy delivered annually:729 million megawatt hours.
